The hand is the cutting edge of the mind.

Did you know that our hands (including wrists) have 54 bones? That’s more than 25% of the total amount of bones in our body!

Our hands are amazing and they deserve some love.

Today, I’m sharing a handful of simple finger, hand and wrist stretches you can do before you enter the busy blur of the day. Ideally take a break every hour to rest and stretch your precious hands.

5 Hand and Wrist Stretches to do Daily

1. Shake out fingers and wrists If seated, take a moment to stand up and breathe deeply. Separate your feet hip’s width distance apart, lengthen your spine and stack shoulders over hips, hips over ankles. Bend your elbows to 90 degrees and then simply shake around your hands, fingers and wrists for 3-5 breaths.

2. Draw circles with your wrists

Make a fist with your hands and slowly rotate your wrists counter-clockwise and then clockwise for 3-5 cycles in each direction.

3. Stretch your wrists Extend one arm forward and turn the palm facing up. Place the palm of your other hand around the fingertips of the extended hand. Press the heel of your hand forward at shoulder level. From there, gently use your other hand to pull your fingers back towards the body. Stay here for 3-5 breaths and then switch hands.

4. Stretch your fingers Similar to the last stretch, extend one arm forward and turn the palm facing up. For this exercise, use the other hand to pull each finger individually toward the body as you press the wrist forward. Hold each finger for 3-5 breaths and then repeat on the other hand.

5. Lift and lower prayer hands to stretch forearms Place both palms together in front of your chest in a prayer shape. Slowly lower your hands down towards your belly button, keeping your palms connected. Once you feel a light stretch under your forearms, pause and hold for 3-5 breaths. Lift prayer hands back to your chest and then repeat 3-5 times.
